FOX CT Dominates With 28 Emmy Nominations

The National Television Academy has announced the nominees for the 33rd annual Boston/New England Emmy Awards. Fox CT has received 28 nominations, double the nominations than all other news organizations in Connecticut.

"Receiving these Emmy nominations is the culmination of an amazing year of change and innovation for Connecticut's newsroom. We have a tremendously talented group of journalists here at FOX CT and I am really proud of everyone at the station," said Richard Graziano, VP/general manager of FOX CT and publisher, president & CEO of the Hartford Courant. "With the integration of the FOX CT and Hartford Courant newsroom, the depth and quality of our news is unmatched by any other media organization in the state."

FOX CT WTIC-TV is the only Connecticut station nominated for Best News Team Coverage. Reporters Jim Altman and John Charlton both received five nominations a piece including Feature News Report Light Feature and News Specialty Report Health/Science. Chief Photographer Michael Piskorski also earned six nominations including Best News Photographer Within 24 Hours and Editor News-Within 24 Hours. Reporter Laurie Perez was nominated for the Best On-Camera Talent Reporter-General Assignment for the third year in a row.

Presented annually, the Emmy Awards honor the advancements of creative, artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. The categories were judged by peers from the Pacific Southwest, Lower Great Lakes, and Ohio Valley Chapters of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The 33rd Boston/New England Emmy® Awards Ceremony will be presented at Gillette Stadium at Patriot Place on Saturday, May 22, 2010.

Jeffrey Levine, SVP/director of content for CT1 Media and FOX CT, was pleased with the nominations. "New England is one of the strongest regions for broadcast journalism in the country. It's an honor to be recognized among our peers for all of our efforts here at FOX CT. These Emmy nominations are a reflection of the writing, photography and storytelling that sets FOX CT apart from the other television stations in the market," he said.
