Coleen Marren Named News Director At FOX CT

FOX CT (Connecticut) has named Coleen Marren news director. She will oversee news operations for the station and report to Jeff Levine, SVP/director of content for CT1 Media.

Marren brings almost 20 years of broadcast news management experience to FOX CT and assumes her role on April 20, 2010. She joins the station from the legendary KDKA-TV and WPCW in Pittsburgh, PA.

"We are thrilled to have Coleen join our team," said Rich Graziano, CEO for CT1 Media. "I am confident that her knowledge, reputation and leadership will be a tremendous asset to our station."

Prior to her move to Pittsburgh, Marren spent eight years as the news director for WCVB-TV, where she oversaw Boston's #1 rated newscast and #1 rated TV website. Marren also served as news director for WISN-TV in Milwaukee and WFXT-TV in Boston. She returns to WTIC-TV, where she served as news director from 1990-1996. Marren has also worked at top-rated WLS-TV in Chicago and WTNH-TV in New Haven.

"Coleen has the vision and experience to take our newscasts to the next level as we continue to break new ground in our news revolution," said Levine. "Add to that, she's a Connecticut native, so her deeply rooted understanding of our unique communities will be invaluable."

In addition to being the news director for FOX CT, Marren will also be one of the key leaders for Connecticut's Newsroom, CT1 Media's unique, trendsetting approach to news coverage that utilizes the resources of the TV station, Hartford Courant, courant.com and ctnow.com to provide the state with the most comprehensive local news content.

Marren's leadership has lead stations to more than 100 awards including Emmy Awards, The Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism, and consecutive AP News Station of the Year Awards. She holds a bachelors degree in English from Central Connecticut State University and is an accomplished musician/composer and ballroom dancer.

"I'm looking forward to returning to Connecticut and working with the excellent staff that has made FOX CT a household name and news leader in the state," said Marren. "Being a part of the unique make-up of Connecticut's Newsroom is fantastic opportunity for anyone in the news business," Marren said in a statement.
