June 12: Green is suddenly England's least favorite color

Clint Dempsey's move to get a shot in the 40th minute of the United States' World Cup match with England was pretty, but the shot itself was hardly a scorcher, and it went right at England keeper Robert Green -- who proceeded to fumble it into the goal giving the U.S. a tie and British tabloids a headline field day ("Hand of Clod," "Shock 'n Draw," "Stars and Tripe"). It was a bad omen for England, who made it out of Group C but were trounced by Germany in the round of 16. -- Rick Porter, Zap2it Related: World Cup: USA-England ends 1-1, thanks to Robert Green World Cup: USA-England draws big ratings Getty Images
