Stiller is also co-starring in the wildly high concept DreamWorks comedy, which also features Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Brandon Jackson, Steve Coogan, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Jay Baruchel, Matt Levin and Andrea De Oliveira.
The Variety casting story offers no indication of what, exactly, Wilson and Nolte will be doing in the movie. Presumably somebody will figure that out before production begins this summer in Hawaii and Los Angeles.
Scripted by Stiller, Justin Theroux and Etan Cohen, "Tropic Thunder" focuses on the cast and crew of a war movie who suddenly find themselves in the midst of a real war, a funny war.
Wilson was most recently spotted opposite Stiller in "Night at the Museum." They've previously worked together in a variety of projects including "Starsky & Hutch," "The Royal Tenenbaums" and, most significantly, the pilot for "Heat Vision and Jack."
Last seen in "Off the Black" and "Peaceful Warrior" (if you happened to catch either of those two), Nolte will next appear in adaptations of "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh" and "The Spiderwick Chronicles."
