When Amish youths turn 18, many of them embark on "rumspringa," in order to make the final decision of whether to permanently commit to the church. Or, as in this case, they go on a reality show and move to LA into a house with six other non-Amish, "modern" teens and 20-somethings.
Did it play on stereotypes, result in most of the Amish kids ditching their religion and get canceled after one season? Yes. But hey, at least they got to attend the red carpet premiere of "The Notebook"!
