TV ratings: CBS conjures more than NBC's 'Merlin' Sunday

Post-NBC Finals, CBS is once again back on top of the Sunday night ratings game.

CBS averaged a 4.6 rating/9 share in primetime, followed by NBC in second place with a 3.3/6. ABC came in third, 2.6/5, with FOX, 2.0/4, and The CW, 0.6/1 at the rear.

It was a different story for the adult 18-49 demographic, however, with FOX out in front with a 1.5 rating, just edging out second-place NBC's 1.4. CBS made an appearance next with a 1.2, followed by ABC, 1.0, and The CW, 0.3.

CBS opened at 7 p.m. with "60 Minutes," 5.4/11. The close of the U.S. Open Golf and "Dateline NBC" averaged a 4.1/9 for the hour. ABC's combo of "Just for Laughs" and an "America's Funniest Home Videos" repeat took third place with a 1.9/4, followed by FOX's "King of the Hill"/"American Dad" repeats, 1.2/2, and The CW's "Reaper" repeat, 0.5/1.

It was a similar story in the 8 o'clock hour, with CBS' "Million Dollar Password" repeat leading with a 4.2/8, while NBC's first hour of "Merlin" earned a 3.4/7. ABC got a 2.5/5 for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," followed by FOX's 2.3/4 for its repeats of "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill." The CW trailed with the movie "Good Boy."

At 9 p.m., a "Cold Case" rerun, 4.4/8, kept CBS out in front, while NBC's second hour of "Merlin" nabbed a dropped a bit to a 3.1/5. ABC's TV movie "Impact" took a 2.9/5, followed by FOX's "Family Guy"/"American Dad" double shot, 2.6/5. Over on The CW, "Good Boy" was put down quietly.

CBS drew a 4.4/8 for a "Without a Trace" repeat at 10 p.m., while "Impact" ended on ABC with a 3.1/6. NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" finished the night with a 2.8/5.
