'Chicken With Plums'

Featured at several film festivals, this fanciful story of a violinist and his recollections takes unusual forms in the hands of two filmmakers who also displayed their technique in the acclaimed "Persepolis," Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud.

Satrapi's graphic novel is the source of the tale, in which the musician (Mathieu Amalric, "Quantum of Solace") mourns the loss of his cherished violin and decides there's nothing worth continuing to live for. His dreams may indicate differently, though. Isabella Rossellini also appears. DVD extras: audio commentary by, and question-and-answer session with, Satrapi and Paronnaud. *** (PG-13: AS, V) (Also on Blu-ray and On Demand)
