"Lucky" was maybe a little ahead of its time. It was the first series FX launched following its breakthrough with "The Shield," but airing a dark half-hour comedy with no other original show to pair with it, as FX did, was too tough a proposition. It's a shame -- John Corbett has never been better than he was as the title character, a former poker champ and gambling addict, and it features terrific supporting work from a pre-"Office" Craig Robinson and a pre-"Mike & Molly" Billy Gardell. Creators Robb and Mark Cullen were Emmy-nominated for their writing of the pilot episode.
