OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES (2012)





The entry period for the Hartford Courant/FOXCT Dream Wedding at the Belle Terrace at Avon Old Farms ("Contest") runs from 11:00 AM (ET) on January 15, 2012 to 11:59 PM (ET) on February 12, 2012 ("Entry Period"). The sponsors of this Contest are The Hartford Courant and FOX CT WTIC-TV, 285 Broad Street, Hartford, CT ("Sponsors"). The Contest shall be subject to these Official Rules, and by entering, all participants agree to be bound by the terms and conditions herein. Winners who have won a prize from a promotion sponsored by CT1 Media within the last six (6) months are ineligible and will be disqualified.

1) NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

2) How to Enter: Only an eligible couple as set forth below ("Couple") may enter; no individual entries will be accepted.

There are three ways to enter:

a) A Couple may enter at the designated events (Bridal Show Expo, Marriott Hotel, 28 Day Hill Road, Windsor, CT on Sunday, January 15 from 11:00 AM until 4:00PM; The 18th Annual Bridal Show, Crowne Plaza Hotel, 100 Berlin Road, Cromwell, CT on Sunday, January 29 from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM; or The 27th Annual Connecticut Bridal Show, Connecticut Convention Center, 100 Columbus Blvd, Hartford, CT on Saturday, February 4 from 11:00AM until 5:00 PM and Sunday, February 5 from 11:00AM until 5:00 PM) (collectively, the "Audition Events") during the Entry Period by accurately completing the entry form and, while on-site, completing a video of 60 seconds or less about why the Couple should receive a Dream Wedding (the "Video") (Sponsors will provide video equipment at the entry booth). Failure to appear within the designated times at the designated locations will result in disqualification. Participants must present valid state or government issued photo identification and must complete a Participant Release and Agreement in order to audition. Participants will audition on a first-come, first-served basis, and all auditions will be videotaped by Sponsors. Participants who enter via Audition Event process may not enter on-line or by mail, and vice versa. Only one Video per Couple. Sponsors are not responsible for events being changed, postponed or cancelled. All costs or expenses not otherwise stated herein, including entrance fees, gas, meals, etc. and any other incidental expenses are the sole responsibility of the Couples.

b) Submit your own original Video to weddings@ctnow.com. Participant must also provide name, age, address, contact information, and a valid email account for each member of the Couple. Video must be 60 seconds or less, in one of the following formats, and NO GREATER than 8 MB in size. Sponsors will attempt to contact participants if their format is not valid.

c) Mail us your own original Video. Video should be in the form of a CD or DVD. You must also provide your name, age, address, contact information, and a valid email account for each member of the Couple. Video must be 60 seconds or less, in one of the following formats, and NO GREATER than 8 MB in size. Sponsors will attempt to contact participants if their format is not valid. Please mail your video to Dream Wedding Contest, FOX Connecticut, 285 Broad Street, Hartford, CT 06115, Attn: Lindsay Grassi. Videos must be received by February 12, 2012.

All Videos must be the original composition and performance of the entrants. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify those entries that may subject Sponsors to a claim or litigation. Entrants shall ensure their performances do not violate any applicable laws, regulations, or television broadcast network standards as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion. Incomplete or late entries will be disqualified and Sponsors are not responsible for entries that are lost, late, garbled, deleted, or misdirected as a result of technical, internet, server, or other online difficulties. Limit one entry and one Video per Couple. Multiple entries and/or Videos from the same Couple will be disqualified. All videotaped auditions will be the property of Sponsors. All entries must be received by Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 11:59 PM ET.

3) Eligibility: This Contest is open to legal U.S. residents, residing in Connecticut who are 21 or older as of January 15, 2012, engaged (or similarly committed as of January 15, 2012), not currently married, and planning a wedding or commitment ceremony ("Dream Wedding") within six months of the close of the Entry Period. Couples must be willing and available to participate with staff from Sponsors in certain pre-Dream Wedding activities and to hold a Dream Wedding and honeymoon incorporating the elements set forth below. If you are unwilling or unable to do so, do not enter this Contest. Winners who are unwilling or unable to do so will be disqualified, and all prizes shall be forfeited. Each member of the Couple must hold a valid U.S. passport, be of good moral character, have never been convicted of a crime of any nature (other than misdemeanor moving violations), and must have nothing in their background that would be an embarrassment to Sponsors as determined in their sole discretion. Each member of the Couple must also be willing to authorize, undergo, and cooperate with a background check if requested by Sponsors. Employees (and the employees' immediate family members (spouse, parents, siblings, children) and those living in the same household (whether or not related)) of the Sponsors, ad agencies, companies/clients providing services or goods for the Dream Wedding, and of their advertising companies, parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, and/or public relations companies, are not eligible to participate. PARTICIPANTS CANNOT ENTER IF THEY HAVE A DEPOSIT FOR BELLE TERRACE AT AVON OLD FARMS, 1 NOD ROAD, AVON, CT; RIVERHOUSE AT GOODSPEED STATION, 55 BRIDGE ROAD, HADDAM, CT; OR THE SOCIETY ROOM OF HARTFORD, 31 PRATT STREET, HARTFORD, CT. IF A POTENTIAL WINNER HAS ANY OF THE WEDDING CEREMONY ACTIVITIES ON DEPOSIT (I.E. REHEARSAL DINNER, WEDDING LOCATION, DJ, PHOTOGRAPHER, VIDEOGRAPHER, CAKE, ETC.) HE/SHE MAY LOSE THEIR DEPOSIT AND CANNOT MAKE CHANGES ON PRIZES PROVIDED. ALL PRIZES AND PRIZE VALUES ARE FINAL AND BINDING. A potential winner may be requested to provide the Sponsors with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the winning entry and that all eligibility requirements are met. THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW AND OUTSIDE CONNECTICUT. By entering, participants agree that prize value will be substantial ($40,000 or more) and Winner will be required to pay all taxes on the prize.

4) Semi-Finalist Selection: A panel of judges from the Sponsors will judge Videos based on the following criteria: creativity, 20%; enthusiasm, 40%; commitment to being the finalist Couple, 40%. Provided there are a sufficient number of eligible entries, the twelve Couples with the twelve highest Video scores will be named Semi-Finalist Couples. Entrants agree that all decisions made by the panel of judges relating to any and all issues related to this Contest are final and binding.

5) Semi-Finalist Voting: Sponsors will attempt to notify the potential Semi-Finalist Couples by telephone or by email using the information provided in the entry form on or about February 16, 2012. If a potential Finalist Couple cannot be contacted or does not respond by noon (ET) on February 20, 2012, that potential Semi-Finalist Couple will be disqualified and Sponsors may select a new potential Semi-Finalist Couple by the same criteria set forth above. Semi-Finalist Couples will also be required to submit a photograph of the Semi-Finalist Couple by no later than noon on February 20, 2012. Once the Semi-Finalist Couples have been determined and announced, Sponsors will post the twelve Semi-Finalist Couples' Videos and photographs on the Contest Website (www.ctnow.com/weddings) and conduct on-line voting on the Contest Website from Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 12:00 PM (ET) to Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 11:59 PM (ET). During the Semi-Finalist on-line voting segment, members of the public will be allowed to vote for their favorite among the twelve Semi-Finalist Couples. The three Semi-Finalist Couples with the most valid, non-suspect votes in the on-line voting portion of the Contest will be deemed potential Finalist Couples, subject to verification.

6) Finalist Couple Notification and Announcement: Sponsors will attempt to notify the potential Finalist Couples by telephone or by email using the information provided in the entry form on or about March 1, 2012. If a potential Finalist Couple cannot be contacted or does not respond by noon (ET) on Monday, March 5, 2012, if one or both members of a potential Finalist Couple does not fulfill the eligibility requirements, if one or both members of a potential Finalist Couple does not adhere to the Official Rules, or if the Finalist notification is returned as undeliverable, that potential Finalist Couple will be disqualified and Sponsors may select a new potential Finalist Couple by the same criteria set forth above. On or about the week of March 19, 2012, the Finalist Couples will be required to appear on the FOX CT Morning Show at a date, time, and location designated by Sponsors and in the Hartford Courant that same week. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

7) Required Documentation: Each member of each Finalist Couple will be required to show proof of age, to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release and a Publicity Release and such other documents as are reasonably required by Sponsors. Finalist Couples will also be required to sign a form that says the prize value of this Contest is approximately $40,000 and he/she understands that they will be responsible to submit a 1099 for the entire prize value and cannot avoid tax liability by declining a portion of the prize. All fair market values are set forth by prize provider and may not be changed. Failure to return all such documents set forth herein within two days of receipt of same will result in the Finalist Couple being disqualified and another Finalist Couple may be selected from remaining eligible Semi-Finalist Couples, based on the criteria set forth above.

8) Winning Couple Selection: Once the Finalist Couples have been determined and announced, Sponsors will post the Finalist Couples' Videos and photographs on the Contest Website and conduct on-line voting on the Contest Website from Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 9:00 AM (ET) to Monday, March 19, 2012 at noon (ET). During the on-line voting segment, members of the public will be allowed to vote for their favorite among the three Finalist Couples. Voting will account for 90% of the total score (the Finalist Couple with the most valid, non-suspect votes in the on-line voting) and 10% will be based on potential marketing and/or entertainment value (judged by a panel of judges composed of Contest Sponsors' representatives). The couple with highest total score under this criteria will be tentatively declared the winning Couple (the "Winning Couple"), subject to eligibility verification and compliance with these rules. Entrants agree to abide by decisions of the judges and Sponsors, which are final in all respects.

9) Conditions Applicable to All Voting: Limit 10 votes per valid email address, per day. All voters must be located in the United States at the time they cast their vote. Proxy voting is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to creating multiple or dummy emails. No one may purchase votes. The use of automated or third party software or web site to vote is prohibited. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any votes cast in violation of the above restrictions.

10) Winning Couple Notification and Announcement: Sponsors will announce the potential Winning Couple on air on the FOX Connecticut morning show on Tuesday, March 20, 1012 (or on a date designated by Sponsors), and Finalist Couples (preferably both members but at minimum one member) must be willing and able to participate in that show to remain eligible. The potential winning Couple may also be introduced in the Hartford Courant that same week.

11) Public Voting for Elements of the Dream Wedding: There will also be a public voting component of the Contest that will determine certain elements of the Dream Wedding. For these elements, the public will be given three options and will vote on which of the three options should be incorporated into the Dream Wedding. Voting will occur on or about March 22, 2012 at 9:00 AM (ET) and end on or about April 3, 2012. Sponsors will designate the times during which the public can vote on each of the elements. The public will vote on various elements (e.g., food menu, dress, rings, honeymoon destination), as determined by Sponsors, of the Dream Wedding.

12) The Winning Couple and the Dream Wedding: The Winning Couple will be required to incorporate the element that receives the most votes in each category into its Dream Wedding. By entering, each member of the Couple agrees, if selected as the Winning Couple, to participate in the activities set forth herein, to abide by the will of the voters with regard to particular elements of the Dream Wedding, to attend and participate in the Dream Wedding, and to maintain reasonable standards of comportment and grooming from the Entry Period through the end of the honeymoon. If one or both members of the Winning Couple do not abide by the standards set forth above or do not participate in the activities set forth above as reasonably requested by Sponsors, the Winning Couple will forfeit the Grand Prize.

13) Prize: One Grand Prize: Grand Prize consists of: 1) pre-Dream Wedding activities, 2) the Dream Wedding, 3) a reception, and 4) the honeymoon. Elements and prize providers to be determined by Sponsors, but will include, at minimum, flowers, hair-styling for one, tuxedo for one, dress for one, wedding rings for two, and transportation to and from a location in Connecticut to the Dream Wedding. Dream Wedding will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 and will be performed by a Justice of the Peace. Reception at the Belle Terrace at Avon Old Farms (Avon, CT) for up to 120 guests will include food, drink and cake as well as musical entertainment. Honeymoon trip for two will include round-trip airfare for two from Eastern Seaboard airport to a resort location as well as standard, double accommodations. Trip will not exceed eight nights. Sponsors will determine specific dates and times of travel. Total approximate retail value: $40,000. The Winning Couple is responsible for all taxes on prize. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT TAXES ON THE PRIZE WILL, IN ALL LIKELIHOOD, BE SUBSTANTIAL. DO NOT ENTER THIS CONTEST IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO PAY TAXES ON THE PRIZE. All expenses not specifically listed herein are the responsibility of the Winning Couple. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash, and prize substitution will not be allowed, except at the discretion of the Sponsors. In the event the Dream Wedding elements the voters select are valued at less than the ARV of the Grand Prize, the difference in prize value will not be awarded. Properly claimed prize will be awarded, but in no event will Sponsors award more prizes than are provided for in these Official Rules. In the event Sponsors do not feature the Winning Couple on air on FOX Connecticut or in the Hartford Courant for any reason, Winning Couple will not be entitled to alternate prize, and Sponsors are not obligated to run such features. If winning Couple does not use all elements of prize, there will be no reimbursement. Prize elements are non-transferable, non-negotiable and not redeemable for cash, credit or merchandise. Prize elements may change at Sponsors' sole discretion. If the Contest is cancelled, no substitute prizes are available except at Sponsors' sole discretion. All decisions regarding interpretation of these Official Rules and administration of the Contest made by Sponsors are final and binding.

Travel must be booked by May 30, 2012 and completed by May 31, 2013. All expenses not specifically listed herein are the responsibility of the prize winner. The actual value of the travel portion of the prize may vary depending on times of travel, airfare fluctuations and hotel charges at the time of travel. Therefore, the actual value of the prize awarded may be lower or higher at the time it is fulfilled. In the event the actual value is lower, any difference between actual value and stated ARV will not be awarded. Travel is subject to the restrictions and conditions set forth herein. All prize-related travel arrangements will be administered by Sponsors' authorized designee. Each member of Winning Couple may be required to provide a valid passport or government issued identification at time of travel. Winning Couple must travel on the same itinerary. No changes will be made to travel details once any element(s) of the travel arrangements have been booked, except at Sponsors' sole discretion. All airline tickets issued in conjunction with prize are not eligible for upgrades, frequent flyer miles or any other promotional benefit. Sponsors will not replace any lost or stolen tickets, travel vouchers or certificates or similar items once they are in the prize winner's possession. Prize travel is subject to capacity controls, availability, and certain other restrictions. Certain blackout dates may apply. Travel must be roundtrip. Any unclaimed and/or unused prize travel package or element thereof will be forfeited by prize winner and will remain the property of Sponsors. No refund or compensation will be made in the event of the cancellation or delay of any flight. Travel is subject to the terms and conditions set forth in these Official Rules and those set forth by Sponsors' air travel prize supplier, as detailed in the passenger ticket contract issued by such supplier.

14) General Conditions:

a) By entering, entrants grant to Sponsors a perpetual, worldwide, unlimited, non-exclusive, royalty-free right and license to publish entry submissions (including Videos and screen grabs derived therefrom) in any medium now known or hereafter invented, in perpetuity. Sponsors reserve the right (but are not obligated) to post Videos online at www.ctnow.com or broadcast the Videos on the FOX CT website. Each entrant further agrees that Sponsors are not obligated to provide a copy of the videotaped audition for the Contest.

b) Play fair. Sponsors reserve the right to prohibit any entrant or voter from participating in the Contest (and to invalidate any votes from that voter) if, at their sole discretion, Sponsors find such entrant or voter to be tampering with the entry process, voting process or the operation of the Contest; or if such entrant or voter shows a disregard for, or attempts to circumvent, these Official Rules; or if such entrant or voter threatens the integrity of the Contest by posting or otherwise disseminating material on Twitter, Facebook, or any other social network that is offensive, vulgar, obscene, or defames anyone or any entity; or if such entrant or voter acts: (i) in a manner the Sponsors determine to be not fair or equitable; (ii) with an intent to annoy, threaten or harass any other entrant, voter or Sponsors; or (iii) in any other disruptive manner.

c) Sponsors are not responsible and shall not be liable for: inability for any reason of entrant to appear at an audition location; inability for any reason of Finalist Couple to appear at any Contest event; or any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by entrant's participation in the audition or Contest.

d) Sponsors reserve the right to delay Contest announcements, postpone or reschedule all or some of the Contest events, and/or modify Contest deadlines at their sole discretion. Any such changes will be announced and posted on Contest website.

e) These Official Rules shall be governed, construed and enforced pursuant to the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to the choice of law provisions thereof.

15) Other Conditions of Entry: Each Couple jointly and individually represents and warrants as follows: that the Video is the original creation of one or both members of the Couple (unless the Video was shot at Sponsors' booth at an event), has not been copied in whole from any other work, has not been previously published, has not been previously submitted in another contest, does not violate the rights of any other person or company (including but not limited to privacy rights and copyrights), does not defame, libel, or slander anyone or any entity, and does not contain offensive, vulgar, obscene or profane content. Videos must be in English. Each Semi-Finalist Couple jointly and individually represents and warrants that it has the right to submit any photographs submitted in connection with the Contest. Videos that do not comply with these Official Rules shall be disqualified. Entrants agree to indemnify, defend and hold Sponsors harmless against any and all liabilities, losses, damages, claims, debts, investigations, fines, penalties, costs, expenses and settlements (including attorneys' fees and costs of litigation, settlement, judgment, interest and penalties) arising out of or related to a breach of the foregoing representations and warranties. All entry information (excluding the Videos themselves) becomes the property of the Sponsors and will not be returned or acknowledged.

16) Responsibility Release: By entering, Couples individually and jointly agree to release, waive, and hold harmless Sponsors and their affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies, prize providers, advertising and promotional agencies, and all of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees and agents from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, and liability arising from injuries, damages, costs, or expenses of any kind (including without limitation attorney's fees) incurred as a result of the contestants' participation in this Contest and/or their acceptance, use, or misuse of the prizes.

17) Publicity: By entering this Contest, Couples individually and jointly agree to allow use of their name, voice, photograph, likeness, any information provided in their entry, and their Videos in any medium of communication, including but not limited to print, Internet, radio and/or television and for any purpose, including advertising, promotional or other purposes, by Sponsors and their licensees and affiliates, without additional compensation. Entrants also agree to participate in all activities reasonably required by Sponsors to publicize the Contest.

18) Other Conditions: Sponsors are not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any Contest-related materials; for entries that are lost, late, misdirected, deleted, incomplete, inaccurate, or garbled or entries that are processed, reported, or transmitted late or incorrectly or are lost for any reason, including computer, telephone, paper transfer, human or other error, or for electronic, computer or telephonic malfunction or error, including inability to access the Contest Website, or process any transaction thereon. If for any reason the Contest Website becomes corrupted or does not allow the proper administration of the Contest and processing of entries in accordance with these Official Rules, or if infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by entrants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes, in the Sponsors' opinion, corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, the Sponsors reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual implicated in such action. ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE (INCLUDING THE ENTRY SITE) OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. Neither the failure of Sponsors to insist upon or enforce strict performance of any provision of these Official Rules or the failure, delay or omission by Sponsors in exercising any right with respect to any term of these Official Rules, will be construed as a waiver or relinquishment to any extent of Sponsors' right to assert or rely upon any such provision or right in that or any other instance.
