Tuesday’s sunshine allowed the temperature at Bradley Airport to reach 91 degrees and thus we had our second official heat wave of the 2018, although it was just three days. The heat fueled the showers and storms that rolled across the state in the afternoon and early evening bringing copious rainfall and flash-flooding, and lots of lightning — some of which struck trees. There were several reports of trees blown over around the state, and also reports of a possible tornado in Ashford that the National Weather Service will have to decide whether to investigate Wednesday.
