We’re looking at some wintry conditions for the start of the weekend.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire state from midnight through 1 p.m. on Saturday for most of the state, with it ending at 3 p.m. in Hartford, Windham and Tolland counties.
We’re looking at anywhere from just a coating, to six inches or more depending on where you are located. The highest amounts will be in the Litchfield hills, with 3 to 6 inches expected and locally higher amounts in higher elevations.
The shoreline will see the least, especially the southeast corner.
By mid-morning the snow will taper off as it transitions to a light freezing rain, sleet, and eventually just rain as temperatures continue to rise above freezing. Rain should taper off/end mid-afternoon.
As much as 1/10 of an inch of ice is expected to fall as well.
Sunday looks much milder with highs near 50 and showers/rain.
Longer-range computer models do show some warmth building back in by Christmastime, but we’ll see how that pans out. Until then, bundle up!
