High pressure will bring a mixture of clouds and sunshine, very warm and humid conditions across the state Friday with high temperatures 85 to 90 and the dew point in the low to mid-70s. A cold front to the west will trigger showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon from Vermont to Pennsylvania. Some of the thunderstorms will likely turn strong to severe with damaging winds and a few possible tornadoes. These thunderstorms will move into western Connecticut this afternoon and then to the eastern sections during the evening hours.
