The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center came out with its forecast for the 2018 season, which officially begins June 1. They forecast a 75 percent chance for a near- or above-normal season. They are predicting between 10 and 16 named storms, five to nine hurricanes and one to four major hurricanes. Of course, none of this means that, even if completely correct, Connecticut will have any tropical activity to deal with. There are already signs that the first tropical depression could develop in the Gulf of Mexico by Saturday.
