Your favorite tune from a trip doesn't have to be about being on the road or driving in a car, but the combination has inspired plenty of songwriters. While fans think of the Beach Boys as a surf band, their real shared passion was cars. Their songs from "Fun, Fun, Fun" to "409" celebrate the freedom of getting out the door and out on the road.
Here's a starter list of some songs to add to your trip kit and a memorable lyric to listen for.
"Route 66" by Nat King Cole. "It winds from Chicago to L.A.; More than 2,000 miles all the way."
"Baby You Can Drive My Car" by The Beatles. "Beep beep'm beep beep yeah."
"Little Deuce Coupe" by The Beach Boys. "And one more thing, I got the pink slip daddy."
"Hot Rod Lincoln" by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. "Pulled out of San Pedro late one night; And the moon and the stars were shining bright."
"On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson. "Goin' places that I've never been, Seein' things that I may never see again."
"Dead Man's Curve" by Jan and Dean. "I was cruisin' in my Sting Ray late one night. When an XKE pulled up on the right."
"Thunderstorms and Neon Signs" by Wayne Hancock. "I got a real nice room with a radio and TV; This here motel livin' is the only life for me."
"Cars" by Gary Numan. "Here in my car; I feel safest of all; I can lock all my doors; It's the only way to live in cars."
"Radar Love" by Golden Earring. "I've been driving all night, my hands wet on the wheel."

"I Can't Drive 55" by Sammy Hagar. "When I drive that slow, you know it's hard to steer."
