The beat goes on, as the sounds of summer reverberate far and wide — old-time acoustic music in Iowa, calypso in London and punk rock in Hungary. Meanwhile, it's time to cast off those look-good-in-a-swimsuit resolutions and dig into the foods of the season, from deep-fried state-fair treats in Minnesota to gourmet tidbits in Denver.

Aug. 11-18: Sziget Festival, Budapest, Hungary, sziget.hu/festival. Metal band Korn and punk-rocking NOFX keep the streets hopping.
