It’s always nice when a package pops up for an exotic destination and it costs as little or even less than airfare alone typically would be. That’s the case with a limited-time flash sale being offered by Sayang Holidays for a trip to Bali. The basic package is priced from just $989 per person, double occupancy, for seven nights’ lodging and round-trip air from Los Angeles, San Francisco or New York. As they say on those commercials, “But wait, there’s more.” You’ll also get airport transfers in Bali and two full-day and one half-day tour with an English-speaking guide. The tours include iconic Bali highlights, such as a traditional dance performance, visiting a monkey forest in Ubud and the beautiful Tanah Lot temple, and watching batik and woodcarving artisans at work. This is billed as a flash sale, but you have until Aug. 31 to book and may travel Sept. 1 to Nov. 30 of this year or Jan. 10 to March 31, 2017. Bali’s a beautiful island in Indonesia with super-friendly people and well worth a visit. Info: 888-472-9264, http://tinyurl.com/jtw7zrf

Bike and boat with Trek

Trek Travel is best known for bicycle tours that put in some heavy-duty mileage each day while staying in high-end hotels and enjoying fine cuisine at night. For 2017, the company has partnered with Scenic, known for luxury river cruising, to offer two European tours that are based on river boats and feature daily bike rides aimed at recreational riders with moderate mileage — or the option to take a day off to lounge on the boat. Non-riders also are welcome. One package travels along the Rhine River from Basel, Switzerland, to Amsterdam. The other cruises the Danube River between Nuremberg, Germany, and Budapest, Hungary. Each is eight days and seven nights and priced from about $6,500 per person, double occupancy, which includes use of a high-end Trek bike. International airfare is not included. Chile, from stem to stern

If you remember your geography, you know that Chile is that long, skinny country that extends down the Pacific coast of South America. In its north is the famous Atacama Desert, and at its southern tip are the fjords and mountains of Patagonia. Adventure Life offers an interesting 13-day/12-night tour called Chile North to South that will have you biking, hiking and rafting from Chile’s one extreme to the other. Biking includes visits to vineyards of the Chilean wine country south of Santiago in the country’s midsection. Rafting is farther south on the Petrohue River. Hiking opportunities abound in the magnificent Torres del Paine National Park. Depending on start date, the trip is priced as low as $3,480 per person, double occupancy, which covers 12 nights’ lodging, some meals and guide service. Internal flights will cost about $900 more, and you’ll have to add on your international flights to Santiago. Info: 800-344-6118, http://tinyurl.com/j74owbz
