Wild orangutans are found only on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra, so if you’ve been dying to see them, you might want to latch on to a package from Natural Habitat Adventures. The Wilds of Borneo: Orangutans & Beyond is a 14-day excursion that visits several nature reserves that are home to orangutans as well as myriad other wildlife: macaques and gibbons, barking deer and mouse deer, proboscis and leaf monkeys, rhinos and pygmy elephants. The opportunity to possibly view all of that and more doesn’t necessarily come easy as the trip’s rated moderate to difficult as far as physical activity. And, it’s not cheap, priced from $8,695 per person double occupancy plus about $600 more for internal flights. But then, unless you prefer your wildlife viewing in a zoo, this is the way to go.
