Safaris and wild game are often the draws for visitors to Africa. But art is the focus of an eight-night package being offered by Extraordinary Journeys. The Art of Travel: South Africa is scheduled for February to coincide with the fifth annual Cape Town Art Fair. The itinerary divides time between a four-night stay in Cape Town’s Ellerman House, a former mansion that’s home to one of the most important private collections of modern South African art, and four nights at Delaire Graff Estate in the Cape Winelands. The art fair is Feb. 17-19, and those on the tour will have the opportunity to experience the city’s art scene with Talita Swarts, a native of South Africa and a fine arts major able to arrange visits to artists’ studios. The package is priced at $8,600 per person, double occupancy, including lodging, some meals and various tours to the region’s wineries. International air is extra. 212-226-7331, http://tinyurl.com/hgbu8zn

On the topic of traveling to Africa in search of big game, South Africa dominated the continent’s rankings for top resorts and safari camps by readers of Conde Nast Traveler. Twelve of the 20 camps listed in the magazine are in South Africa, headed by Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sand region of the country. The list also included four camps in Kenya and one each in Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania and Botswana. Check them all out at http://tinyurl.com/jbe4pvj.

World War II tour

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans is a treasure trove of World War II history and memorabilia. But it also gives further context to the war by hosting historical tours to Europe. The Rise and Fall of Hitler’s Germany tour May 18-29 next year will visit significant sites in Germany and Poland accompanied by historian Alexandria Richie, an expert on World War II in Europe. The tour begins in Berlin. Highlights in Poland include a visit to Oskar Schindler’s factory, which now contains a museum commemorating his efforts to save Jews from extermination. Thirty miles west of Krakow is the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp. There will also be a visit to Wolf’s Lair, Hitler’s Eastern Front command post, and to key sites relating to the Warsaw Uprising. The tour is priced at $6,495 per person, double occupancy, which includes 11 nights’ lodging, most meals, an internal flight, tour manager and more. International airfare is extra.
