Velvet Sessions: Asia Featuring John Payne coming to Universal's Hard Rock Hotel

The Velvet Sessions concert at Universal's Hard Rock Hotel for April will spotlight Asia Featuring John Payne.

The progressive-rock group will be perform April 25 as part of the event, a combination cocktail party and lobby concert.

The band is an officially sanctioned split from the original Asia group, and it has Payne as its lead singer. This version of Asia -- which currently includes Erik Norlander, Jay Schellen, Moni Scaria and Jeff Kollman -- has been touring since 2008. Its recent single "Seasons Will Change" is available on iTunes, and a new album called "Americana" is scheduled for release this year. (The band's website is TheAsiaBand.com)

Tickets for the Hard Rock Hotel appearance are $29 in advance and online, $35 at the door. Admission includes parking, finger foods and select drinks.
