If you’d like to introduce the kids to a bit of Old Florida charm, Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales is one of the state’s enduring gems.

And the attraction has kid-friendly activities on its busy slate of summer activities that showcase the gardens and the distinctive soothing sounds of the famous carillon bells.

Here’s a look at the schedule:

Discovery Days (10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, though July 27): This weekly event offers outdoor play time, art projects, nature walks and environmental programs for ages 5-12. It costs $10 per class or $55 for all six classes (no class June 22) and includes one free adult admission for each registered child. Reservations required.

Summer Film Series (10:30 a.m. Thursdays, through Aug. 18): An assortment of family films will be shown in the Bok Tower Visitor Center. The series, which includes “Nova: Hunt for the Supertwister,” “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That” and “Islands in Time,” is included with regular admission.

Ridge Explorations (10 a.m. to noon Fridays, through Aug. 19): Environmental organizations will showcase the unique ecosystem of the Lake Wales Ridge and conservation efforts. It’s included with admission.

Bring Your Own Picnic Day (June 19): On Father’s Day, Bok Tower Gardens is inviting visitors to bring their own blanket and picnic lunch and also is offering free admission for dads.

Plein Air Days (Aug. 3 and 17): There will be free admission for artists who want to paint, draw and create on the grounds.

Dog Day of Summer (Aug. 6): Leashed and friendly dogs are invited to visit on this special dog-friendly day. From 9 a.m. to noon, there will be experts on hand to provide grooming tips, health, safety and adoption information. Dog admission is $5, which includes a dog gift bag.

Live at the Gardens (selected Saturdays): “Live at the Gardens” concert series will feature the Porchdogs (June 25), the Repeatles (July 23), Garrison Doles (Aug. 27) and Victoria de Lissovoy (Sept. 24). Concerts start at 7:30 p.m. Concert tickets are $20.

Bok Tower admission is $10, with a $2 Florida resident discount through Sept. 30. Visit boktowergardens.org for details.
