Busch Gardens: Falcon's Fury to open May 1

The new Falcon's Fury thrill ride will open to the public at Busch Gardens on May 1, the Tampa theme park has announced.

The attraction, billed as "North America's tallest freestanding drop tower," will lift passengers above the 300-foot level, tilt their seats toward the ground, then let gravity take over, freefall style. The second-tallest attraction at Busch Gardens is the SheiKra roller coaster, which tops out at 200 feet.

The ride will be the centerpiece of the park's new Pantopia area, which replaces the longstanding Timbuktu. Pantopia is scheduled to open in tandem with Falcon's Fury.
