The Queen Elizabeth in Southern California
The Queen Elizabeth rarely comes to Los Angeles, but Tuesday was one of those great exceptions. The Cunard ship was on a round-the-world journey heading to the Panama Canal and then east to New York when it stopped off for a royal rendezvous with its old, sedentary sister, the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Before the two met in Long Beach amid fireworks and whistles, the ship docked in San Pedro for a few hours. I had an opportunity to take a quick tour and soak up some of the grandeur aboard this luxury liner. Here's what life looks like aboard ship.

The Grand Lobby
The ornate lobby is the main entrance to the ship, which carries about 2,000 passengers and 1,000 crew members. The lobby is three decks high and linked with staircases.
