Fishing Villages of Halong Bay

Vietnam Though they may be hard to notice amid Halong Bay's stunning rock formations, several floating fishing villages exist within the UNESCO World Heritage Site. According to the World Monuments Fund, about 1,400 people in 400 households live in Halong Bay's core area. These people subsist on fishing and aquaculture. Tourism is impacting their way of life, says the nonprofit.
