A special weekend package at Westin Guadalajara in Mexico is custom-made for tequila aficionados.
The package includes accommodations in Guadalajara and a round-trip, 25-mile train ride for two to the town of Tequila, the home of tequila-making. The trip also includes a tour of one of the oldest distilleries in Latin America and tequila tasting.
Guests depart on Saturday for the daylong trip. The package includes a buffet breakfast, shuttle service to and from the train station, 10% off all food and beverage at the Westin Guadalajara, and late check-out at 4 p.m. on Sunday, based upon availability.
The package, created in partnership with Casa Cuervo, was designed to give participants an opportunity to learn how tequila is made. In 2006, the region was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, under the name of Agave Landscape and Ancient Industrial Facilities of Tequila.
The Westin Guadalajara is in an area known for both technology and culture, and as the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila.
Rates for the Tequila Express Package are $225 per night, double occupancy, plus 19% local tax. A minimum two-night stay, Friday through Sunday, is required.
