With our rolling waves, white sea walls and lush palm trees, South Florida was made for selfies.

National Selfie Day is June 21, and in that spirit, we gathered several popular spots for tourists and residents to take a digital self portrait. (See the photo gallery above.)

It’s not hard running into folks shooting photos with their smart phones and monopods on any given day in the tropics.

You may have seen people stepping off tourist buses onto Calle Ocho in Miami with their selfie sticks to take photos with the colorful giant rooster figurines found along the Little Havana strip. The gritty but bright murals at Wynwood Walls in Miami are often featured as selfies on Instagram. The city is often listed as one of the most Instagrammed nationally.

And along Fort Lauderdale beach, sunbathers snap photos in and out of the water with their selfie sticks.
