The splendor of fall colors in New England and Canada is a spectacle that lures many travelers each autumn. One convenient way to enjoy it is via a cruise to various ports of call.

Here are some choices this year (rates are the best we found on cruise line web sites or reservations offices and are subject to change):

Holland America: Among this premium line’s New England/Canada sailings is a seven-day Canada & New England Discovery cruise aboard the Veendam on Oct. 3. Departing from Boston, the ship visits Bar Harbor, Maine; the Canadian ports of Halifax, Nova Scotia; Sydney and Prince Edward Island before ending in Quebec City. Norwegian: This budget category line offers a variety of New England/Canada voyages. Among them is a seven-day cruise aboard the Norwegian Gem roundtrip from New York to Halifax, Nova Scotia; St. John, Bay of Fundy (New Brunswick); Portland, Maine; and Newport, R.I. Oceania: This upper-premium line offers cruises to New England/Canada aboard its Regatta. One of the offerings is an 11-day New York to Montreal voyage on Oct. 10. Ports of call include Newport, R.I.; Boston, Mass.; Bar Harbor, Maine; St. John, New Brunswick; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Sydney, Canada; cruise the St. Lawrence River; and Quebec City, Canada. Royal Caribbean: This moderately-priced line’s Brilliance of the Seas offers seven-night New England/Canada cruises from Boston with departures in September and October. Silversea: Among this ultra-deluxe line’s New England/Canada voyages is a 10-day Oct. 3 sailing from New York to Montreal.
