The old Salem and Norwich Turnpike — today's Route 82 — twists and turns through East Haddam, Hadlyme, Lyme, back into East Haddam and into Salem. While the road's geography will sometimes leave your head spinning, there are a few stops in the natural world along the way to help you gain your bearings.
