Table tennis goes cosmo. Sarah Cody introduces you to SPiN New York during this week's Daytrippers.

Looking to put a new spin on your weekend?  Head to SPiN New York, part of a galaxy of social clubs that is sweeping the nation.

“It’s not pretentious.  Everybody is really stressed out in their regular life, you know, but then you come and play ping pong and forget about it,”  says Franck Raharinosy, one of the founders, along with award-winning actress Susan Sarandon.  “We were hosting ping pong parties in our loft.  So, every Friday night, we would have 150 to 200 people in our loft with tables and we were just entertaining our friends, initially.”

Now, SPiN New York is hosting charitable events and drawing crowds, just like its sister clubs in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Toronto and Dubai, India.  And this concept of mixing recreation and relaxation is growing.

“Our goal is to add a club in the top 50 cities in the world,” says Raharinosy.

SPiN New York is located on 48 East 23rd Street in New York.  On weekend nights, it costs $40 per hour to rent a ping pong table for an unlimited number of guests.  Click here to check out SPiN’s website for more information.
