The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center is the largest Native American institute in the world and it's right here in Connecticut.
The state-of-the-art facility features an observation tower, a large recreation of an authentic Pequot village, replicas of unique animals such as the mastodon and a trip back in time to the Ice Age.
"It was basically a dream of the tribe as a whole to tell the story, the history of the tribe," says Executive Director Kimberly Hatcher-White.
This summer, the museum will feature an educational pow wow, a new comic art exhibit and daily activities in the 18th century farmstead. Watch this DayTrippers video to experience this excursion and start planning your vacation activities with the kids.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
