Residents of either Illinois or Ohio will doubly win with the outcome of the 2016 World Series.

A wager between Kimpton hotels in Chicago (home of the Cubs — yay!) and Cleveland (home of the Indians — boo!) will result in a limited $99 per night rate in December (plus tax) for residents of the state that brings home the World Series trophy.

If the Cubs win, Illinois residents will pay $99 per night at Cleveland’s The Schofield Hotel, where rooms typically start at $159. Rooms will be limited to 10 per night at the reduced rate, and limited to three per night on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Should — heaven forfend — Cleveland win the World Series, Ohio residents will score the $99 rate at five Chicago Kimpton hotels. Rooms will be limited to nine per night at Allegro and Burnham (blackout dates: Dec. 1 and 31), Monaco (Dec. 31), Palomar (Dec. 31) and The Gray (no blackout dates).

Guests will need to provide an ID at checkout affirming their state of residence.

Presuming the Cubs win — which they will — the only downside of claiming our winnings will be visiting Cleveland.

(Just kidding, Cleveland! We have great love and respect for our fellow Midwesterners, and we’re quite impressed at the developments in your city in recent years. However … go Cubs!)
