Watch Stephen Colbert paint ex-Bear Brandon Marshall’s nails

Former Bears receiver Brandon Marshall nailed his debut on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Marshall, who now plays for the New York Jets, rooted for another one of his former teams, the Denver Broncos, to beat the New England Patriots in Sunday’s AFC title game. He also taught Colbert how to hold a football and let the late night host paint Marshall’s nails lime green to promote Marshall’s organization devoted to mental health awareness.

Marshall’s Wednesday appearance got off to a bit of a rocky start. Colbert mentioned how Marshall, 31, had a great season with the Jets — he logged his sixth 100-catch season, an NFL record — but Marshall disagreed.

“The way I look at it is, if you’re on the Colbert show, you’re a loser,” said Marshall, who played for the Bears for three seasons before being traded last year.

“You know what? I’m with you,” Colbert said.

“This time of year,” Marshall clarified, referring to the postseason.

Marshall, who announced in 2011 he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, gave Colbert a basket of gifts associated with his Project 375 organization including shoes, socks and nail polish in the group’s signature lime shade, a color associated with mental health awareness.

“Let’s get it going right now,” Colbert said as he unwrapped the nail polish.

“No, we’re not going to paint our fingernails,” Marshall said before holding his hand out.

“The Late Show” airs weeknights on CBS at 10:35 p.m.
