State income tax: None State sales tax: 4% Gas taxes and fees: 24 cents Despite the decline in the price of oil, revenue from mineral rights continues to flow in Wyoming, enabling the Equality State to keep taxes low. There is no income tax. People who move to these parts like to own a lot of land, and low property taxes make that dream affordable. The median property tax on the state's median home value of $195,500 is $1,195, the eighth-lowest in the U.S. The state's gas tax is well below the national average of 30 cents per gallon, and Wyoming has the lowest beer tax in the U.S.
