Here are some of the more interesting events, deals, websites and other travel tidbits that came across our desk recently:

* Six houses, each a different architectural style, will be the focus of the 54th Annual Historic Home Tour on Sept. 9-10 in Marshall, Mich. Styles represented are Gothic Revival, Cottage, Italianate, Second Empire, Queen Anne and Craftsman. Seven museums, including the American Museum of Magic, also will be part of the tour. * Historic electric streetcars will be in operation Sept. 9 as part of the annual Streetcar Day in Kenosha, Wis. There will be tours of the “streetcar barn” (Joseph McCarthy Transit Center), interactive displays, vendors and more. 262-653-4287, www.kenoshastreetcarsociety.org

* The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis will host the Quest for the West Art Show and Sale on Sept. 8-9. Forty-nine artists will show nearly 200 recent works not previously exhibited. * Bicyclists looking for an early fall outing can find it in the 48th Annual Harmon Hundred, Sept. 10 in Wilmot, Wis. The event, sponsored by the Wheeling Wheelmen, offers scenic routes of 25, 50, 75 or 100 miles. http://tinyurl.com/h9pcows

* The 9th Annual U.P. Fall Beer Festival will be Sept. 9 in Marquette, Mich. More than 80 Michigan breweries will be on hand with hundreds of beers and hard ciders to sample. Tickets may be purchased in advance online. http://tinyurl.com/ydgj4gwb

* Bicycling and grazing on goodies from southwest Michigan farms will be the order of the day Sept. 9 during the 6th Annual Lakeshore Harvest Ride. There will be four routes ranging in length from 15 to 62 miles and featuring stops at farms, orchards, wineries and art studios. Cyclists can begin in either Douglas or South Haven. www.lhride.com

* You can float down the Mississippi River this fall with canoe trips being offered by the Alton, Ill., Convention and Visitors Bureau and Big Muddy Adventures. The trips are planned in a 30-foot, 14-passenger wooden canoe, a modern version of the Voyageur canoes used by fur traders 200 years ago. On Sept. 17 there will be a full-day tour from Pere Marquette State Park to the Alton Marina, and on Oct. 8 there is a half-day tour from Piasa Harbor to Alton. http://tinyurl.com/yclm3ozr

* The annual Old Mill Fall Festival will be held Sept. 17 at the H.A. Rathje’s Peotone Mill in Peotone, Ill. The three-story mill, built in 1872, will be open to explore its antiques, and there will be demonstrations of old-time crafts such as blacksmithing, shoemaking, broom making, loom weaving and woodcarving.
