Epicurean travelers looking for a getaway in the spring need to check out the Broadmoor Hotel’s inaugural “Taste & Savor” event, scheduled for March 5-8.

The weekend’s seminars will include a caviar tasting, new ways to prepare vegetables and throwing the perfect cocktail party. The entrance fee will include all the seminars, a welcome reception Thursday night and the gala on Saturday night.

Visitors can choose among several dinners Friday night. Among the offerings will be a Southern Heritage dinner paired with American whiskeys and bourbons; another will pair the Burgundies of Joseph Drouhin with foods of that region.

Epicures from Chicago will note that the roster of culinary stars has a distinctly familiar flavor because two of the headliners are Curtis Duffy and Shawn McClain.

Duffy’s Grace restaurant was awarded three stars in the most recent Michelin Guide. This honor comes on the heels of his success partnering with chef Grant Achatz at Alinea, another three-star Michelin restaurant.

McClain also has deep roots in the Chicago area, having headed the kitchens of Trio and Spring before opening his current Chicago outpost, Green Zebra. He currently also is the chef at Sage in Las Vegas.

Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel said that if this is your type of travel, the talent level is very high and should be worth a visit.

Lodging and activity packages are available; reservations are required (855-634-7711; broadmoor.com/tasteandsavor).
