An international trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has landed with a slew of new footage, perfect for eagle-eyed fans who are eager to dissect every frame of the upcoming sci-fi sequel.

The trailer offers our first proper glimpse of beloved protocol droid C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), along with more footage of BB-8, Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) and Rey (Daisy Ridley), who is seen meeting Finn (John Boyega) and having a harrowing encounter with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in the promo, while also revealing an intriguing new tidbit about her character motivations: she’s waiting for her family.

Other shots expand on what we’ve already seen, adding more context to Kylo Ren’s scene with Darth Vader’s crushed helmet, and showing new angles from some of the major aerial battle sequences between TIE Fighters and the Resistance’s forces, before ending with a line from what sounds like Lupita Nyong’o’s still unseen Maz Kanata.

Earlier this week, Disney and Lucasfilm released character posters for a number of key players in the space saga, including Finn, Rey, Kylo Ren, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), although Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker remains MIA from the promotional materials.

“The Force Awakens” also stars Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow, and debuts in theaters on Dec. 18.
