*Heavy-duty cyclists looking to step up their training regimen might be interested in Trek Travel’s Ride Camp on Aug. 24-27 in Boulder, Colo. The Ride Camp, which is less recreation-oriented than typical Trek Travel trips, will cover 159 miles of riding and 15,100 feet of climbing. *The Last Good Country: Walloon Lake is the second installment of this annual event that celebrates Ernest Hemingway’s connection to northern Michigan. The Hotel Walloon in Walloon Lake is hosting the April 28-30 event, which includes Valerie Hemingway, daughter-in-law and special assistant to the late author. *Columbus, Ohio, has been showing up on some “best of” lists in the past few years, and the tourism folks there have just come up with an additional draw for visitors. The Made in CBUS Trail lists unusual locally owned shops, such as Brothers Drake Meadery, which produces wines made from raw Ohio wildflower honey. *A Jammin’ Family Kite Fly Festival will be held April 29 at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Plum Creek Nature Center in Beecher, Ill. The Illinois Kite Enthusiasts group will demonstrate synchronized kite dancing and kites will be for sale. 708-946-2216, https://tinyurl.com/j59yv2c

*The Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival will be April 28-30 in the small Indiana town southeast of South Bend. Take a tour to see how maple syrup is made and enjoy live entertainment, contests, a parade and more. http://tinyurl.com/mwybtgx

*The Garden Gate Festival will be held April 22 in downtown Huntingburg, Ind. Attractions will include live jazz, wine and craft beer, an art market, and a car show featuring classic and antique autos and street rods. http://tinyurl.com/kfbgmgb

*The Midwest Horse Fair will be April 21-23 in Madison, Wis. It features more than 300 clinics and seminars and hundreds of commercial exhibitors. The Epic Night of the Horse includes competitions and performing acts, as well as a rodeo. http://tinyurl.com/lpcgrax

*Tickets are on sale for the Middle of the Map Music Fest, May 4-6 in Kansas City, Mo. More than 100 local, regional and national artists will perform at multiple venues in the city.
