*Football fans can get away to the Caribbean and rub elbows with members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame during a four-night cruise March 2-6, 2017, aboard Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas.

James Lofton, who played for the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Raiders and Buffalo Bills, and Randall McDaniel, who belonged to the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. *The Michigan Opera Theatre begins its holiday lineup Nov. 12 at the Detroit Opera House with “Silent Night,” an opera depicting the spontaneous cease-fire by French, Scottish and German soldiers on Christmas Eve 1914. Starting Nov. 25, BalletMet Columbus and the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra join together for “The Nutcracker.” www.michiganopera.org

*A Holiday Open House will be held in Lake Geneva, Wis., Nov. 12-13, featuring live music and artists and lots of shopping opportunities in the historic downtown district. http://tinyurl.com/hmt4bx8

*Muster on the Wabash, showcasing re-enactments of battles and military life during the War of 1812, will be held Nov. 5-6 at Fort Knox II in Vincennes, Ind. *Looking ahead to the holidays, wineries along the Great River Road Wine Trail in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa will hold their Holiday Harvest Wine and Food Festival on Nov. 12-13.
