A visitor at the Correctional Industrial Facility (CIF) in Pendleton was arrested Sunday after officers say she tried to sneak contraband to an inmate.

Joyce Taylor, 37, Indianapolis, was charged with attempting to traffic with an offender and possession of a controlled substance. Investigators said Taylor tried to smuggle 21 strips of Suboxone into the facility. Suboxone is used to treat opioid dependence. In some cases, inmates deal it in jail and trade it for commissary items.

Indiana State Police and CIF’s Internal Affairs Department are investigating.
