William Williams was fatally shot by officers Sunday after police said he charged officers while holding two butcher type knives in his hands.
Officers used a taser to try to subdue Williams. The shock failed to subdue Williams. Police said he continued to attack the officers. Williams pinned one officer in the bedroom. That's when the other officers began firing at Williams.
The officers involved in the incident include Indiana State Police Trooper Brian Thomas, Indiana Conservation Officers Patrick Labhart and Chris Springstone, Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Sergeant Jon Chadd and Cloverdale Police Officer Charles Hallam.
Indiana State Police said the circumstances indicate the officers acted appropriately but that the investigation is ongoing.
The coroner said Williams suffered a total of four gunshot wounds.
