Vigil held for slain one-month-old Fort Wayne girl
An anti-violence group held a vigil Saturday to mourn a one-month-old Ford Wayne girl, whose mother sits in jail charged with beating her. Members of Heal the Land Prayer Services gathered Saturday for one-month-old Alyssa Johnson, Fort Wayne's 26th homicide victim of 2010.

They and nearby residents joined in Bible readings, sang "Amazing Grace," and prayed for the victims and for the city's healing. Group chairman James Driscoll tells The Journal Gazette his group's goal isn't to condemn or blame anyone. Driscoll says he hopes the group's work can encourage residents and families of the victims to work together.

Twenty-five-year-old LaDawn Depree Johnson is jailed in Allen County on $45,000 bond on preliminary charges of neglect and battery.

The coroner's office says Alyssa died Dec. 9th of a fractured skull.
