The Black Friday do not buy list

Indianapolis

Some shoppers don't want to have anything to do with Black Friday.

“I think it's just getting awful,” said shopper Kathy Gordon.  “People have lost humanity and courtesy. You know stuff like that, it’s just like a battle.”

But, some stores like Wal-Mart are actually trying to take the battle out of Black Friday.  Wal-Mart is offering a new app to help navigate its stores for the best deals.  They're also opening on Thanksgiving night and offering a guarantee on the hot door buster items that include an iPad, a 32-inch TV or a Blu-Ray DVD player.

“So if you're in the store between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving night, you're guaranteed at least one of these items,” said Spokeswoman Ashley Hardie.

But Dealnews said there are some things you shouldn't buy on Black Friday. Surprisingly, toys are on the list.

“Pretty much across the board for the past several year,s we've seen that toys hit their lowest prices the entire holiday season in the two weeks before Christmas,” said Lindsay Sakraida, Dealnews Features Director.

HDTV’s are also on the “Do Not Buy” Black Friday list.

“You probably want to skip name brand HDTV’s,” Sakraida said.  “Those items will typically see their best prices in late December through February right before they’re replaced by the 2013 models.”

And she said don't buy a gaming system without some extras included.

“The best value you can get from a gaming system these days is in a bundle. If you buy it by itself, it may not be that special of a deal,” Sakraida said.

She also said if you don't need the latest and greatest iPad go for the iPad 2.  Apple could be making deals on this tablet.

“It's the oldest Apple tablet that they still sell and it's very likely to see a strong discount this Black Friday. It could go as low as $299,” said Sakraida.

Bottom line, have a plan and know what you want and don't get caught up in the chaos of the day.  There may be better deals later.
