Speed boat crashes into rescue boat at Madison Regatta

A serious crash at the Madison Regatta boat race sent workers to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

One of the boats participating in the race struck a rescue boat around 3 p.m.

The rescue boat was destroyed in the water.  Three people on the rescue boat were rushed to local hospitals.

The pilot of the race boat is expected to be alright.

Just before 6 p.m., another crash happened on the water.  This time two boats competing in the race collided.  There's no word on injuries to those race boat pilots.

This weekend's race is the 61st annual Lucas Oil Madison Regatta held in Jefferson County, Indiana, which is between Louisville and Cincinnati.

Hydroplane boats compete for the Governor's Cup.
