A new poll shows a tightening race for senate as the scenes are set for two debates among candidates.
The Howey/DePauw Indiana Battleground Poll shows Democrat Joe Donnelly with a 40-38 lead over Republican Richard Mourdock. Libertarian Andrew Horning pulled 7 percent in that poll.
The numbers also showed Republican Mike Pence with a comfortable 47-34 lead over Democrat John Gregg in the race for Indiana governor.
In the senate race, the Indiana Debate Commission announced Thursday that campaign officials for Mourdock, Donnelly and Horning have signed off on two debates.
The first debate is Monday, October 15, at WFYI-TV in Indianapolis. Mizell Stewart III, E.W. Scripps Co.’s chief content officer/newspaper division, will moderate. The first debate will be in a studio with no live audience.
A second debate is set for New Albany at IU Southeast’s Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center on October 23. The venue can accommodate an audience of about 500 people. Ericka Flye will moderate.
Hoosiers can submit their questions for the candidates at the Indiana Debate Commission’s website through October 20.
Ticket details for venues open to the public will be announced closer to debate dates.
