Associate dean at Purdue arrested for allegedly shoplifting at Wal-Mart

Pablo Malavenda was booked into the Tippecanoe County jail Sunday, after he was arrested at a local Wal-Mart.

Purdue University's associate dean of students is on paid leave Thursday morning, after West Lafayette police arrested him on suspicion of shoplifting.

Pablo Malavenda was booked into the Tippecanoe County jail Sunday, after he was arrested at a local Wal-Mart.
   
A spokesperson for the school said the university was aware of the arrest on Monday and Malavenda was put on paid leave soon after.
   
As associate dean, Malavenda oversees student activities and organizations.
