A former Indiana congressman forced out of office by an affair is recovering in an Iowa hospital Tuesday night.

Mark Souder recently underwent surgery for gall bladder problems.
    
He was admitted to a University of Iowa hospital after having bad abdominal pain on March 23.
    
The 61-year-old is not sure when he will be released from the hospital.
    
Souder resigned from the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010, after admitting to having an extramarital affair with a female staffer.
