White House Press Secretary Was Told Not To Speak About Drones

Robert Gibbs, the former White House Press Secretary, has revealed that when he joined President Obama’s administration, he was told not to acknowledge the President’s drone program. Gibbs made this shocking revelation on MSNBC’s “Up With Chris Hayes,” a show that is also top-secret to most TV viewers. From Politico:

“Here’s what’s inherently crazy about that proposition,” [Gibbs] said. “You’re being asked a question based on reporting of a program that exists. So you’re the official government spokesperson acting as if the entire program… pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. I think in many ways and I think what the president has seen - and I have not talked to him about this, I want to be careful. This is my opinion. But I think what the president has seen is our denial of the existence of the program when it’s obviously happening undermines people’s confidence overall in the decisions that their government makes.”

People talk about transparency, but I'm actually pretty cool with the leaders of the free world not having to disclose their top level military secrets to Entertainment Weekly. I know that the people are interested in answers, but the people seem to be equally interested in Chris Brown and Rihanna’s relationship, so maybe we could just reveal the behind-the-scenes secrets of that instead.
