Lieberman might back 3rd party candidate - and that's news?

Joe Lieberman is telling Politico that he could see himself backing a third-party centrist candidate for president. A stunning revelation.

Somehow that reminds me of Claude Rains line from"Casablanca," when his Vichy French police captain character is being handed his corrupt roulette winnings as he's closing Rick's nightclub: "I'm shocked, shocked to find gambling going on in here!"

Let's see. Joe, once the Democratic vice presidential candidate, has been an "Independent Democrat" since he was denied the party's nomination for U.S. Senatein 2006. He backed Republican John McCain for president in 2008, and spoke against Barack Obama at that year's GOP National Convention.

He was a die-hard supporter of George W. Bush's misadventures in Iraq and is now sounding as warlike on Iran as many of the wild-assed Republican presidential candidates trashing Obama for not unleashing the bombers immediately.

So he's "intrigued" by Americans Elect, a group of establishment moderates from both parties who are trying to to create a third-party option this year.

I believe this belongs in the "Dog Licks Own Balls" news clipping file.
