East Haven's taxpayers are only now beginning to feel the real pain of the town's big racial profiling and police abuse scandal.

Their board of finance this week approved the transfer of $47,500 to begin complying with a federal civil rights violations settlement. But that's certain to be just the first few drops in a long process of bleeding money from East Haven's coffers for new cop training, protocols, monitoring and computer stuff.

In the long run, this could get real expensive.
