Another summer folk/jam festival to mark on the calendar: Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival, better known just as the Clearwater Festival. It’s happening June 15-16 at Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson NY, just an hour or two’s drive from Connecticut.
This is the fest that Pete Seeger began 35 years ago to honor the Hudson River Valley area and raise awareness of environmental and community issues which may affect it.
The line-up, alphabetically:
Delhi 2 Dublin
Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings
Jorma Kaukonen & Steve Kimock
Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars
Vieux Farka Touré
Keller Williams & The Travelin’ McCourys
Lorre Wyatt (Performing with Pete Seeger)
Most of these acts need no introduction. Of those which might, you may recognize Antibalas as the band which was featured in the Broadway musical Fela! (about Fela Kuti) and Red Baraat from playing on New Haven Green at the Arts & Ideas last year. Lots of info at clearwaterfestival.org
