Beadworks: Lola Richards. (May 21, 2012)

South Norwalk has grown and even gentrified over the last two dacades — and Beadworks has been there for all of it. The store is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and store manager Lola Richards couldn't be more pleased. “We're so thrilled, we're so honored; it's a tribute to the amazing job we've done over the years. We feel like the cornerstone of South Norwalk.” But the store's long-standing status at the corner of Washington and North Water streets doesn't mean that it hasn't kept up with the times. “We're constantly evolving, we get stuff in every couple of days, we've really focused on bringing in really unique and hard-to-find beads,” Richards says. “Because we constantly have new stuff in, we're always on top of our game.” Part of staying on top of the game also means a broad selection of classes for customers — whether it's beading basics on a monthly basis, or for the more adventurous, new classes in topics like soldering.
